AISA is a professional association established in 1996. It has more than 500 members who are graduates and undergraduates of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences of several Italian universities.

The objectives of the association are:
- to further the role and the activity of environmental professionals who are graduates of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences
- to qualify environmental professionals
- to create partnerships with academic institutions
- to advance the science, practice and understanding of environmental issues
- to promote a multidisciplinary approach to environmental issues

Main activities of the association are:
- organization of courses on environmental education
- organization of conferences and workshops on environmental issues
- guidance into the choice of opportunities of formation on environmental issues
