The European Economic and Social Committee has published an opinion on freeing the EU from asbestos.

The committee noted that only Poland has established a financially backed action plan for removing all remaining asbestos. Some member states have not yet developed registers of buildings containing asbestos.

Germany has updated its water treatment facility rules in order to comply with the EU Water Framework Directive.

Water protection is regulated by the EU Water Framework Directive (WFD) (2000/60 / EC) since the year 2000. Its main aim is to protect surface water and groundwater. It aims to improve and rehabilitate Europe’s water system by the end of 2015 (in special circumstances by the year 2027).
